Meu paciente não pára de repetir... isso é mau?: a concernência da repetição

During the history of psychoanalytic thought, repetition was approached through several points of view. The concept has appeared in Freud’s theory in a trembling and constraining way making repetition one most intriguing among the psychoanalytic concepts. In the clinic practice, when one perceives that a patient is repeating, the first impression one has it is that repetition is being harmful to the treatment. Frequently this situation is regretted. The present paper tries to redeem the ambiguous character of the concept of repetition. It also emphasizes a possible productive aspect in the way of cure, which was named concerning. It also proposes that listening to repetition, focusing the possibility of this productive character, is what can let the patient being able to create something new to him/herself, interrupting the undesirable repetitive processes to his/her treatment, although the patient has to resign pleasure temporarily.
