Este texto sintetiza os fundamentos do conceito de liberdade vigotskiano, procurando elucidar suas conexões a partir das investigações do autor sobre linguagem, vontade, funções psíquicas superiores, pensamento e imaginação. Discutem-se, ainda, os antecedentes filosóficos presentes no seu conceito de liberdade e se esboça uma análise das condições concretas necessárias para a livre-escolha em tempos de alienação.

This text summarises the fundamental points of Vygotsky´s freedom concept, with the intention of elucidating its connections within his investigations concerning language, will, high mental functions, thought and imagination. We also discuss the philosophic antecedents related to freedom’s concept and outline an analysis of the concrete conditions for free choices inside an alienation epoch.

Este artigo é a adaptação de um capítulo da dissertação desenvolvida no Mestrado em Psicologia Escolar e do Desenvolvimento Humano do Instituto de Psicologia da USP. Implica a visitação teórica das obras de Jean Piaget, Lawrence Kohlberg e Carol Gilligan sobre o desenvolvimento moral na perspectiva da Psicologia. As teorias são construídas a partir de uma concepção da moralidade por meio de fatores cognitivos e baseados na justiça, na opinião dos dois primeiros autores, até o desenvolvimento da ética do cuidado, na teoria da terceira autora. Tal caminho nos leva inevitavelmente a considerar que diversos elementos, não só a justiça, participam do juízo e da ação moral, entre eles, virtudes como a generosidade.

This article is an adaptation of a chapter from the USP Psychology Institute Master’s degree dissertation in School Psychology and Human Development. It involves the theoretical knowledge of Jean Piaget, Laurence Kohlberg and Carol Gilligan about the moral development in the perspective of Psychology. The theories are built based on a conception of morality through cognitive factors and based on justice, according to the two first authors, up to the development of the care ethic, according to the third author’s theory. This concept leads us, inevitably, to consider that several elements, not only justice, take part in sense and moral action, among them, virtues as generosity.

A cefaléia de tensão constitui um dos tipos mais freqüentes de dor de cabeça, embora, etiologicamente, mal compreendida. Ocasiona uma série de comportamentos de evitação que desencadeiam conseqüências físicas, sociais e psicológicas nos indivíduos afetados. O presente trabalho, além de uma revisão da literatura sobre as variáveis contextuais envolvidas nesse transtorno e nas modalidades de tratamento, descreve uma metodologia de investigação capaz de identificar as relações estabelecidas entre o indivíduo, a doença e o meio social. Concluiu-se que uma perspectiva biopsicossocial, integrada a um plano de investigação sustentado por uma formulação comportamental, possibilita uma intervenção mais eficiente, individualizada e sistêmica.

The tension headache constitutes the kind of headache which happens more frequently, although its ethiology is still not completely understood. It causes an evitation behavior series that unchains physical, social and psychological disturbances. This study has made a critical literature revision, allowing a better comprehension of this problem and the possible treatments for it. It also intends to develop a methodology for tension headache, able to identify the relationships established among the individual, the disease and the social environment. It concluded that a biopsychosocial perspective, integrated to an investigation plan sustained by a behavioral formulation, is adequate for a more efficient, individualized and systemic intervention.

Os conceitos de violência desenvolvidos por Hannah Arendt e Marilena Chauí levam-nos a refletir a respeito da violência doméstica contra crianças, ampliando seu significado e possibilitando questionar determinados sentidos a ela atribuídos. A justificativa e a aplicação do Direito quanto ao que caracteriza um ato violento não conseguem abarcar situações como a violência doméstica e a violência institucional. Essas modalidades de violência parecem manter estreita ligação, pois ambas são colocadas à margem dos possíveis enquadramentos legais quanto aos danos que vêm causando às vítimas. Além disso, ambas são necessárias à manutenção do status quo, na medida em que reproduzem relações interpessoais reificadas.

The concepts of violence elaborated by H. Arendt and M. Chauí lead us to reflect on the wider significance of domestic violence against children and question some interpretations about it. The interpretations and the application of the penal code as to what characterises a violent act does not successfully cover situations of domestic and institutional violence. These forms of violence are closely linked, as both are outside the contingencies of the legal framework in terms of injuries caused to the victims. Moreover, both are necessary to maintain the status quo, since they reproduce interpersonal relations based on possession.

Neste artigo aborda-se a função constituinte do discurso parental para a inscrição da criança no universo simbólico dos pais. Através de relato sumário de dois atendimentos clínicos realizados na UTI Neonatal, aponta que a subjetividade da criança se sustenta numa rede discursiva familiar que a antecede e a determina. Ressalta assim, a importância do discurso familiar que antecede o nascimento e que se constitui como condição mínima necessária para a constituição subjetiva do infans.

In this article it is approached constituent function of the parental speech for the inscription of the child in the symbolic universe of the parents. Through summary story of two clinical assistances carried out in an neo-natal ICU, it points out that the subjectivity of the child sustains in a familiar discursive net that precedes it and it determines it. It standes out thus, the importance of the familiar speech that precedes the birth and that if it constitutes as necessary minimum condition for the subjective constitution the infans.

No presente trabalho, apresentamos a definição de Psicologia da Saúde e Psicologia Hospitalar, esta última como especialidade exclusivamente brasileira. Refletimos, também, sobre a formação acadêmica, o mercado de trabalho e a realidade da saúde no País. Consideramos que existem incongruências entre a formação de base, a nossa realidade social e a inserção de psicólogos no ramo da saúde. Discutimos a inclusão da Psicologia Hospitalar na Psicologia da Saúde, área ampla que utiliza os conhecimentos das Ciências Biomédicas, Psicologia Clínica e Psicologia Comunitária para intervir em distintos contextos no âmbito sanitário.

In the present article the authors present the Health Psychology and the Hospital Psychology definition, the last one as an exclusive Brazilian specialization. Moreover, we reflect about the academic studies, the work market and the Brazilian health reality. We found some incongruence among the career studies, the social reality and the psychologists’ work in the health field. We discuss the Hospital Psychology incorporation in the Health Psychology area, which uses the Biomedical, Clinical and Community knowledge to intervene in different health contexts.

O presente artigo retoma o tema da hipnose criticando algumas das principais crenças que levaram ao seu desuso em Psicologia Clínica. Ao mesmo tempo, busca levantar outros princípios que tornem possível e eficaz sua utilização clínica. Para tanto, parte-se de um estudo de caso de Milton Erikcson, de onde são destacadas e problematizadas duas questões essenciais: a substituição dos sintomas e a qualificação da autoridade do terapeuta. O primeiro ponto é discutido em torno da crítica sobre a superficialidade da hipnose, o que remete a uma visão mais ampla da subjetividade, onde aparência e essência desenvolveriam uma relação complexa e não-linear. A discussão do segundo ponto considera que a autoridade do terapeuta é necessária não para se opor diretamente ao sintoma, mas para criar condições em que a auto-regulação do sujeito crie soluções próprias para seus problemas. Para concluir, o artigo sustenta que o tema da hipnose, por suas implicações históricas, clínicas e epistemológicas, consiste em um desafio para a Psicologia que remete à revisão da própria história de seu projeto de ciência.

The present article brings back the very subject of hypnosis by criticizing some of the main beliefs that promoted the lack of its use in Clinic Psychology. Meanwhile, the article tries to raise some other principles that make the possibility and efficiency of the usage of clinic-wise hypnosis easier. For that matter, we start off with the study of Milton Erikson´s case, from which two aspects are highlighted and put in perspective: the substitution of the symptoms and the qualification of the therapist authority. The first revolves around the superficiality of hypnosis, which takes us to a broader view of subjectivity, where appearance and essence would develop a complex and non-linear relationship. The discussion of the second aspect ponders that the authority of the therapist is not needed in direct opposition to the symptoms, but in creating conditions in which patients´ self-regulation can establish personal solutions to the their own problems. To conclude, the article states that the theme of hypnosis, for its clinical, epistemological and historical implications, consists of a challenge to Psychology that deals with the review of its own historical science project.

O alto índice de pacientes asilares nas instituições psiquiátricas representa um dos maiores desafios ao processo da reforma psiquiátrica em curso no Brasil. O intuito desta pesquisa foi o de acompanhar e descrever o processo de desospitalização de pacientes crônicos e asilares que vem ocorrendo em uma dessas instituições. Verificou-se que, nos raros casos em que o paciente asilar é desospitalizado, ele não é desinstitucionalizado e sua situação de tutela é mantida. O processo exige uma política de inclusão que implique não apenas mudanças na estrutura de serviços mas também uma nova clínica apoiada na ética do sujeito.

The high patient rate in mental hospitals represents one of the highest challenges to the ongoing psychiatry reform process in Brazil. This research’s main target was to accompany and describe the process of releasing the chronicle inmates and patients who live in hospital that has been happening in one of these institutions. It turns out that in the rare cases when an inmate is released from the institution, he’s not uninstitutionalized and his custody remains. The whole process demands an inclusion policy that implies not only the structure changes but also a new institution based on the subject’s ethic.

O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar alguns resultados importantes provenientes da tese de doutorado da primeira autora, orientado pela segunda. O tema da tese foi um estudo com pacientes de vitiligo, através da abordagem analítica, buscando compreender o vitiligo como possibilidade de manifestação simbólica da relação psique/corpo. Treze mulheres fizeram parte do estudo, sendo que dez receberam acompanhamento médico e psicológico por seis meses. Destas, cinco receberam acompanhamento psicológico grupal e cinco, acompanhamento psicológico individual. Três pacientes receberam só acompanhamento médico por igual período. Buscou-se, com esse atendimento diferenciado, avaliar se haveria diferença à resposta clínica (condição de repigmentação) das pacientes. Os resultados indicam que o modelo analítico permitiu a compreensão simbólica da doença vitiligo como manifestação de conteúdos inconscientes que necessitavam ser integrados à consciência. As pacientes que receberam tratamento conjunto médico e psicológico apresentaram um percentual de repigmentação de até 80%, enquanto as que receberam exclusivamente tratamento médico obtiveram um percentual de repigmentação de até 20%. Esse dado demonstra a importância de um trabalho integrado no tratamento das doenças de manifestação psicossomática.

The aim of this article is to present some results of the author’s doctorate thesis. The theme of the thesis was a study with patients suffering from vitiligo, through the analytic approach, in order to see vitiligo as a possibility of symbolic manifestation of the psyche/body relation. Thirteen women were part of the study, whereas ten were given medical and psychological assistance for six months. Among these women, five were given group psychological therapy, and five received individual psychological therapy. Three patients were given only medical assistance for the same period. This differentiated assistance aimed at assessing if there would be any difference to the patients’ clinical answer (condition of repigmentation). The results indicate that the analytical model allowed the symbolic comprehension of the vitiligo disease as a manifestation of unaware contents which needed to be integrated to consciousness. Those patients who received both medical and psychological treatment presented a higher percentage of up to 80% of repigmentation while the ones who were under medical assistance presented only 20% of repigmentation. This results showed the importance of a joint work in the psychosomatic manifestation diseases.

O sistema de saúde precário tem levado grande parte da população à procura de formas alternativas para o restabelecimento do seu bem-estar. Buscamos entender como se dá a construção das noções de saúde e doença a partir de uma visão religiosa do mundo e quais as influências dessa concepção na relação dos pacientes com a Medicina ou com a busca de poderes sobrenaturais. Participando de seis cultos de uma igreja neopentecostal, observamos e realizamos entrevistas semi-estruturadas com três fiéis e um pastor. Percebemos que o discurso da igreja fornece sentido, orienta e ajuda as pessoas a resolverem e contornarem suas aflições cotidianas. O “diabo” torna-se a causa principal de todos os males. Assim, a doença passa a ser uma ação demoníaca e a cura requer o exorcismo do fiel. Destaca-se que os rituais de cura da igreja e a consulta médica são atos quase excludentes.

The precarious health system has taken great part of the population to search alternative forms for the re-establishment of his/her well-being. We sought to understand the way he/she feels the construction of the notions of health and disease starting from a religious vision of the world and with the influences of this conception in the patients’ relationship with Medicine or with the search for supernatural powers. Participating in six cults of a neopentecostal church, we observed and accomplished semi-structured interviews with three followers and a shepherd. We noticed that the speech of the church supplies sense, guides and helps the people to solve problems and outline their daily afflictions. The “devil” becomes the main cause of all evils. Thus the disease becomes a demoniac action and the cure requests the exorcism of the faithful. It stands out that the rituals of cure in the church and the medical consultation are almost excluding actions.

Este artigo trata do processo da reforma psiquiátrica brasileira, a partir dos anos 80, que levou ao surgimento de serviços alternativos em saúde mental. Mais especificamente, aborda a criação e organização do Centro de Atenção Psicossocial Espaço Vivo, de Botucatu-SP, que ocorreu a partir das transformações no atendimento aos pacientes psicóticos do Hospital Professor Cantídio de Moura Campos. Faz reflexões sobre a importância do trabalho em equipe e do respeito à singularidade e subjetividade dos envolvidos nesse processo de mudança da forma de atendimento ao sofrimento mental.

This article deals with the process of the Brazilian psychiatric reform, since the 80’s, that led to the implementation of the alternative services in mental health. It discusses more specifically the creation and organization of the Psychosocial Attention Center “Living Space” of Botucatu-SP, Brazil. This was possible due to the transformations in the care of psychotic patients of “Professor Cantídio de Moura Campos” Hospital. It considers the importance of team work and the respect to the singularity and subjectiveness of the ones involved in the process of changing the attendance of mental suffering.

Neste ensaio, temos como objetivo discutir as formas convencionais de intervenção institucional direcionadas aos moradores de rua. Analisamos a relação dessa prática com uma determinada apropriação dos direitos humanos na contemporaneidade. A partir dessa análise, buscamos apontar uma possibilidade clínica no atendimento social tendo como fundamento a noção de sujeito concebida por Alain Badiou. Nessa perspectiva, avaliamos a viabilidade do exercício da cidadania por um ser que, em alguma medida, se encontra reduzido à sua condição animal. Por fim, visando a ilustrar e demonstrar a aplicabilidade dessa elaboração teórica, apresentamos a construção de um fragmento clínico.

The objective of this essay is to question the conventional forms used by institutions to deal with the homeless. These practices seem to be related to a certain contemporary appropriation of the human rights. From this vantage point, we present and discuss a clinical possibility in social assistance, which is based on the notion of individual as conceived by Alain Badiou. In such a perspective, it is discussed the viability of citizenship exercise by a human being that, in a sense, finds himself/herself restricted to animal condition. In order to illustrate and to demonstrate the applicability of such a theoretical construction, a clinical fragment is presented in the last section of the essay.
