Self-regulated learning: contributions of the educational psychology to teacher education

Self-regulated learning has been considered an important construct in Educational Psychology since it encompasses many essential aspects for learning in an educational context. Thus, adopting self-regulated Learning Models as a major theoretical framework, In this paper we aim at describing and analyzing the foundations of self-regulated learning and its key concepts, as well as to show the relevance of this construct for teacher education. We hope to contribute not only to educate teachers with such qualities, but also to the creation of an educational culture with focus on the promotion of self-regulated learning as a fundamental goal of school psycho pedagogical projects.
