The aim of this paper is to characterize the reading behavior in 295 6th grade basic school students who attend private and public schools. The characterization is made in according to the social status from which they come. Two instruments were used in order to obtain the information: The Reading Bahavior Characterization Questionnaire (RBCO) and the Reading Enthusiasm Measure (REM). The results show that the reading to the social status from which the subjects of the three social status considered in this paper.
