Este artigo apresenta uma análise da última novela de Kleist, O Noivado em Santo Domingo. Em vez de concentrar a atenção sobre o enredo passional, abordaremos a crise da forma narrativa suspensa entre crônica, novela e romance. Realçaremos os conflitos políticos e culturais que afloram desde o primeiro terço da narrativa, antes da eclosão da paixão entre o oficial europeu Gustav e a mestiça Toni. No centro da análise está o uso irônico dos dados históricos e biográficos da época em que Kleist escreveu esta obra (inspirado pelos acontecimentos políticos em Santo Domingo, na França e na Alemanha da primeira década do século 19). A perspectiva valoriza a arte e a maestria com que Kleist dramatiza sentimentos extremamente complexos que sugerem inúmeros pensamentos implícitos. Uma apresentação crítica da bibliografia das últimas décadas completa o ensaio.

This article presents an analysis of Kleist’s last novella, Betrothal in Santo Domingo. Instead of concentrating our attention on the sentimental plot, our approach will focus on the first third of the text, which prepares the development of the passionate love between the European official Gustav and the mestice girl Toni. A few historical and biographical aspects referring to the time when Kleist wrote this novella will illuminate Kleist’s artful use of irony and his subtle dramatization of highly complex feelings and thoughts. A critical presentation of the bibliography gives a synthetic picture of Kleist-studies in the past decades.

O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar algumas das principais características do conto Kleist in Thun, de Robert Walser, na tentativa de refletir sobre como o texto literário é capaz de estabelecer um diálogo com a tradição, através da ficcionalização da figura de um autor, especificamente através de um gênero narrativo praticado por Walser, o retrato.

The purpose of this paper is to present a discussion of some of the main characteristics of Robert Walser's short story Kleist in Thun, in an attempt to reflect on how the literary text can establish a dialogue with tradition. This is achieved by the fictionalisation of the character of a real author, more specifically by the narrative genre often used by Walser: the portrayal.

El estudio Zwei Gedichte von Friedrich Hölderlin es el primer ensayo crítico de Walter Benjamin. Respecto de dicho ensayo, los intérpretes se han concentrado en sus tesis e influencias más generales, sin reconocer por otro lado ciertos giros heterodoxos presentes en su lectura de Hölderlin. Así, tras el velo de sus postulados crítico-metodológicos, es posible reconocer un abordaje moderno de la poética hölderliniana, donde los motivos filosófico-idealistas aparecen desplazados por una lectura sensual y materialista. Dicho giro obedece a la presencia de intuiciones que más tarde constituirán los ejes fundamentales del pensamiento benjaminiano.

The study Two poems of Friedrich Hölderlin is Walter Benjamin's first major critical work. Regarding this essay, the interpreters have been so far concerned with Benjamin's more general thesis and influences, without taking further acknowledgement of the heterodox twists active on his exegetical strategies. But, beyond the veil of the essay's methodological principles, it is possible to recognize the roots of a modern approach to Hölderlin's poetics, where the classical idealistic motives are replaced with a more sensual and materialist reading. Such turn would respond to the presence of early intuitions that eventually will become significant critical axes in Benjamin's thought.

Pretendemos, no seguinte artigo, apresentar a história de Fausto através da tradição do teatro de animação e suas influências sobre obras literárias relacionadas ao doutor herético. Baseada em uma personalidade real, a lenda de Fausto remonta à época da reforma luterana. Desde o Volksbuch de Spies, Fausto operou como um exemplo de advertência para a fé recém surgida, que encontrou na técnica do teatro de animação a maneira ideal de difundir sua ideologia. Mais tarde, a advertência tornou-se fascinação em relação a esta personagem, que ganhou fama em sua fusão com a divertida tradição do Kasperltheater. Seguindo as pegadas dessa evolução, podemos certamente entender algumas das direções que a lenda tomou em obras literárias, especialmente no caso do Fausto de Goethe.

In this article we intend to present the history of Faust through the puppet theatre tradition and its influences on literary works concerning the heretic doctor. Based on a true character, the legend of Faust goes back to the time of Lutheran reform. Since Spies’ Volksbuch, Faust worked as a warning example to the newborn belief that found in the technique of Puppet Theatre the ideal way to spread its ideology. Later on, warning became entertainment and also fascination towards this character, which gained fame with his fusion to the amusing Kasperltheater tradition. Following the traces of this evolution we can surely understand some of the directions the legend took in literary works such as Goethes’s Faust and Thomas Mann’s Doktor Faustus.

Na tradição literária do século XIX, as imagens romanescas da arquitetura e da decoração de interiores estavam ligadas a uma tentativa de cópia fiel do real, sob pretexto de um pretenso apagamento do caráter representativo da própria linguagem. No entanto, W. G. Sebald, no romance Austerlitz, faz um diferente uso dessas metáforas, com grande rendimento ético e estético: nas linhas arquitetônicas e nas construções civis, a personagem Austerlitz, especialista em arquitetura capitalista, entrevê a estrutura de um massacre de proporções abissais, que culminou na shoah. Por trás da racionalidade instrumental e do fascínio do iluminismo, a cidade capitalista carrega em sua imanência - tal qual na página do romance escrito por Sebald - um olhar oblíquo para a destruição perpetrada em nome de um suposto ideal de pureza, racionalismo e ordem. Assim, o romance de Sebald, por meio da metáfora arquitetônica, revela o horror do massacre contra os judeus na Alemanha no século XX, mas sem recorrer a uma estetização do mal que comprometeria a própria reflexão acerca dos descaminhos humanos.

In the literary tradition of the nineteenth century, romanesque images of architecture and interiors design were related to an attempt to copy reality directly, supposedly to elude the representative matter of language. However, in his novel entitled Austerlitz, W. G. Sebald uses these metaphors differently, with great ethical and aesthetical gains: from architectural lines and urban buildings, the character called Austerlitz, an expert on capitalist architecture, infers the structure of a horrid carnage, which grew to the catastrophic shoah. Behind instrumental reason and fascination for Enlightenment to its highest point, the capitalist city, like the pages of Sebald’s novel, immanently offers an oblique look at the destruction in the name of supposed purity, rationalism and order. Therefore, Sebald’s novel, by means of the architectural metaphor, reveals the horrid onslaught against German Jews in the twentieth century, but it does not provide readers with an aesthetics of evil, which would disturb the reflection against the astray path of humanity.

a Editora da UFSC publica o ensaio Negerplastik (Escultura Negra) de Carl Einstein (1885-1940), autor até então inédito no Brasil. No ensejo e em vista da premência atual do vínculo arte e ação política, este artigo apresenta informações multidisciplinares referentes à atuação do escritor/artista, inclusive a tradução para o português da “Negergebet” (“Prece Africana”) e das “Drei Negerlieder” (“Três Canções Africanas”) devidas à relevância da literatura e das artes africanas no trabalho legado por Einstein, bem como um mapa de leituras afinadas e úteis à compreensão de seu trabalho.

With Negerplastik (Escultura Negra in portuguese) the Santa Catarina University Press publishes the first book by Carl Einstein (1885-1940) edited in Brazil. In this context and doing justice to the nowadays important relation between art and political action, this article presents information in multidisciplinary perspective about the artist/writer, the translation of “Negergebet” and “Drei Negerlieder”, considering the relevance of African arts and literature in Einstein’s work, as well as a reading guide tuned and useful in order to understand his work.

Mit Negerplastik (Escultura Negra auf Portugiesisch) stellt der Verlag der Bundesuniversität von Santa Catarina die erste in Brasilien veröffentlichte Arbeit Carl Einsteins (1885-1940) vor. Aus diesem Anlass und um die heute als vorrangig empfundene Beziehung zwischen Kunst und politischer Aktion Rechnung zu tragen, stellt dieser Artikel multidisziplinär hergeleitete Informationen über Carl Einstein zur Verfügung - nebst der portugiesischen Übersetzung von “Negergebet” (“Prece Africana”) und “Drei Negerlieder” (“Três Canções Africanas”). Dies geschieht angesichts der Bedeutung von Literatur und afrikanischer Kunst im Werk Einsteins, deren Beziehung sich durch diese Informationen eher erschliessen mag.

Nesta pesquisa foi investigado o uso peculiar das onomatopeias na linguagem das histórias em quadrinhos e como o processo de criação de novas expressões nesse contexto respeita o sistema fonético e fonotático de cada língua. Foi realizada uma pesquisa empírica, para a qual falantes nativos de língua portuguesa e alemã foram solicitados a sugerir ou criar as onomatopeias que julgassem adequadas para diversas cenas de histórias em quadrinhos[1] que lhes foram apresentadas editadas, com as onomatopeias originais retiradas. Através da análise dos dados foi possível identificar algumas características específicas quanto à sequência fonética e a organização silábica das onomatopeias nesses idiomas.

This study investigates the peculiar use of onomatopoeia in the language of comics as well as how the process of creation of new expressions in this context respects the phonetic and phonotactic systems of each language. An empirical investigation was conducted, in which native speakers of both German and Portuguese were asked to suggest or create the onomatopoeia that they judged adequate for several edited comic panels, in which the original onomatopoeia had deliberately been omitted. The analysis of the data made it possible to identify some specific characteristics regarding the phonetic sequence and the syllabic organization of the onomatopoeia in these languages.

O presente artigo tem por objetivo apresentar um estudo comparativo da percepção de textos multimodais, mais especificamente, anúncios publicitários impressos em revistas brasileiras e alemãs, por aprendizes brasileiros de ALE (Alemão como Língua Estrangeira) e por aprendizes alemães de PLE (Português como Língua Estrangeira), com especial atenção para a dimensão intercultural envolvida neste processo. Através da análise desenvolvida no estudo, puderam ser identificados tanto os aspectos culturais mais diretamente relacionados a usos linguísticos (uso de pronomes pessoais e formas de tratamento, por exemplo), quanto de aspectos culturais mais subjetivos (a percepção de estados emocionais, a visão de trabalho, entre outros). Este estudo também discute as implicações do vínculo entre as escolhas linguísticas e a cultura para o ensino de LCE (Língua/ Cultura Estrangeira).

This article aims to present a comparative study of the perception of multimodal texts, more specifically, advertisements printed in Brazilian and German magazines, by Brazilian learners of GFL(German as a Foreign Language) and German learners of PFL (Portuguese as a Foreign Language ), with special attention to the intercultural dimension involved in this process. Through the analysis developed in the study, it was possible to identify not only cultural aspects strictly related to language phenomena (as the use of personal pronouns and forms of treatment, for instance), but also more subjective cultural aspects (such as emotional states, the view about work, among others). This study also discusses the implications of the link between culture and language choices for the area of teaching and learning foreign languages / cultures.

Estudiosos dos campos da Educação, da Linguística Aplicada e da Formação de Professores de Línguas insistem hoje na grande importância da inclusão de Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação (TICs) na formação inicial, bem como na necessidade de promover o desenvolvimento do pensamento crítico-reflexivo dos futuros professores. Tomando como pressupostos teóricos estudos acerca das características da sociedade de informação, dos ambientes virtuais e da formação de professores, este trabalho tem como objetivo discutir possibilidades oferecidas pela plataforma Moodle de aprendizagem na formação inicial de professores de alemão. Para tanto, apresentaremos diferentes formas de uso de ambientes virtuais e de ferramentas neles disponíveis, que demonstraram ser de grande valor no processo de formação de licenciandos, tanto em língua alemã, quanto durante suas práticas iniciais. As experiências apontam para um valor inestimável de ambientes virtuais no acompanhamento de licenciandos no processo de aprendizagem da língua e nas primeiras experiências com a docência.

Scholars in the fields of Education, Applied Linguistics and Language Teacher Training today emphasize the crucial importance of including Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in initial training, as well as the need to promote the development of critical and reflective thinking in future teachers. Taking as theoretical assumptions studies about the characteristics of the information society, virtual learning environments and teacher training, the purpose of this paper is to discuss possibilities afforded by the Moodle learning platform for the initial training of German language teachers. To this end, we will present different ways of using virtual environments and their tools, which have proved to be very useful in the learning process of trainee teachers of German as well as during their initial teaching practices. Experience has indicated the invaluableness of virtual learning environments for monitoring licentiate students in the language learning process and in their first teaching experiences.

Wissenschaftler aus den Bereichen Erziehungswissenschaft, Angewandte Linguistik und Fremdsprachenlehrerausbildung beschäftigen sich immer häufiger mit Fragen der Einbeziehung von Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien in die Lehramtsausbildung und der Notwendigkeit, die Entwicklung kritisch reflektierender Lehrer während der Ausbildung zu fördern. Theoretische Studien über Merkmale der Informationsgesellschaft, über virtuelle Lernumgebungen und über die Lehrerausbildung dienen als Basis für den vorliegenden Artikel, dessen Ziel es ist, die Möglichkeiten der Anwendung der Lernplattform Moodle in der Deutschlehrerausbildung zu diskutieren. Zu diesem Zweck stellen wir verschiedene Möglichkeiten vor, einige virtuelle Umgebungen und die von ihnen angebotenen Werkzeuge zu nutzen, die nachweislich großen Einfluss sowohl im Verlauf der Ausbildung selbst, als auch bei der Unterstützung der Studenten während ihrer Praktika haben. Empirisch zeigt sich, dass die virtuellen Lernumgebungen unschätzbare Vorteile als Hilfsmittel für die Begleitung der Studenten beim Sprachlernprozess und bei den ersten Lehrerfahrungen mit sich bringen.

O artigo tematiza empréstimos, mistura e troca contínua de código linguístico (code switching) no uso diário por descendentes de alemães de São Bento do Sul, Estado de Santa Catarina. Trata-se aqui não só de empréstimos de alguns lexemas em português, como interjeições, expressões formulaicas, negações, subjunções/conjunções e de alguns ‘casos especiais’, como também de assimilação de formulações inteiras em português brasileiro. Com base em excertos de diálogos e análises curtas são apresentadas, em amostras exemplares, formas específicas do contato linguístico teuto-brasileiro.

The article focuses on loan words, language mixtures and the continuous code switching specifically of residents of German origin from São Bento do Sul, Federal State of Santa Catarina. It deals with loan words of Portuguese lexemes such as interjections, formulaic expressions, negations, subjunctions/conjunctions and some special cases of Portuguese constructions. Using various segments of spoken language and short analyses the special forms of German-Brazilian language contact are presented in exemplary form.

Der Artikel thematisiert Entlehnungen, Sprachmischungen und den Umgang mit kontinuierlichem Sprachwechsel deutschstämmiger Bewohnerinnen und Bewohner aus São Bento do Sul, Bundesstaat Santa Catarina. Es geht hierbei sowohl um Entlehnungen einzelner portugiesischer Lexeme wie Interjektionen, formelhafte Ausdrücke, Negierungen, Subjunktionen/Konjunktionen und einige ‚Sonderfälle als auch um Übernahmen portugiesischer Konstruktionen. Anhand verschiedener Gesprächsausschnitte und Kurzanalysen werden in exemplarischer Form die spezifischen Formen des deutsch-brasilianischen Sprachkontakts vorgestellt.

O presente artigo abrange aspectos da manutenção linguística e as medidas de preservação linguística do pomerano no estado brasileiro do Espírito Santo, com base no estudo sóciolinguístico de Höhmann (2011). Após a introdução, na qual é dada uma visão geral da situação de pesquisa e dos dados sóciodemográficos da respectiva comunidade linguística, são apresentados dados quantitativos sobre a preferência linguística e de transmissão intergeracional da língua. Além de comprovar o uso de línguas minoritárias nas escolas e os desideratos de pesquisa resultante. O projeto de revitalização PROEPO e aspectos da recente padronização da língua minoritária são apresentados. Finalmente, as perspectivas para a preservação da língua são discutidas.

The present article deals with aspects of language maintenance and measurement for language revitalization of Pomeranian in the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo, based on the sociolinguistic study by Höhmann (2011). Following the introduction, in which an overview of the research situation and the socio-demographic data is provided, the text presents quantitative data on language preference and intergenerational language transmission of the studied language community. In addition, the use of the minority language in education and the resulting research desiderata are stated. The Pomeranian language revitalization project PROEPO and aspects of the latest standardization activities of the minority language are presented. Finally, perspectives for language preservation are discussed.

Der vorliegende Artikel behandelt Aspekte des Spracherhalts und Maßnahmen für die Sprachrevitalisierung des Pommerischen im brasilianischen Bundesstaat Espírito Santo. Die vorgestellten Daten basieren auf der soziolinguistischen Studie von Höhmann (2011). Nach der Einleitung, in der ein Überblick über die Forschungslage und die soziodemographischen Daten der untersuchten Sprachgemeinschaft gegeben wird, werden quantitative Daten zur Sprachpräferenz und zur intergenerationalen Sprachtransmission aus der Studie vorgestellt. Desweiteren werden die Verwendung der Minderheitensprache im Schulunterricht und daraus resultierende Forschungsdesiderate dargelegt. Es wird auf das pommerische Sprachrevitalisierungsprojekt PROEPO und auf Aspekte der Standardisierungsmaßnahmen der Minderheitensprache eingegangen. Abschließend werden Perspektiven für den Spracherhalt erörtert.
