This essay aims at establishing the distinction between the word distress and its concept in the Freudian thought, in order to enunciate that distress, as a concept, is constituted only in the second topic and in the theory of pulsion of the 20's. Thus, distress would be positively articulated with the concepts of sublimation and femininity, and masochism would be its negative side.
