This paper tries to identify structures of musical rhetoric in the masterpiece Responsórios para Quarta Feira Santa by Antônio dos Santos Cunha (1775?-1822?), it also presents a brief study about the composer and the liturgical use of his composition, and shows how this analysis can help to create conceptions of performance.
