Body posture, voice and self-image on lyrical singers

Body awareness is an essential precondition to maintain posture and the development of vocal and bodily gestures for lyric singers. The aim of this study was to discuss the relationship between postural and vocal signs with self-image in lyric singers. Therefore, a discussion was performed based on semiotic Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, Medicine, Philosophy, Psychology and Art, especially singing. This discussion was structured around three topics: A) Uniqueness and body awareness; B) Image and expression; C) Posture, voice and self-image. Final considerations: the expression and body image are characterized through awareness of posture and body movement so every movement is expressive. Every expression as an effect on body image, therefore every new perception of the expression will produce changes in the self-image. Thus, the lyric singer changes the self-perception on each new interpretation and establishes new signs for the gestures and body postures.
