"The Little Lutheran" magazine and its circulation in the Lutheran parochial schools (1930-1966)

This paper discusses how the magazine "O Pequeno Luterano" (The Little Lutheran) was used in parochial schools in the southern region of Rio Grande do Sul that were guided by the Lutheran institution Synod of Missouri, today "IELB" (1930-1966). The analysis shows that the magazine was destined to children, and, even not being edited as teaching material, was widely used by the parochial schools as an educational and informative media. Its popularity derived at least in part from its objectives and content: doctrinal education, dialogue with readers, civic education, and guidance to teachers. Particularly important for the success of the magazine was its institutional dialogue with the educational reality.
