Open-access Invisibility as an expression of exclusion in school sociability

Abstract

This article analyzes invisibility in school sociability from the perspective of high schoolers. We consider that this type of interaction is particularly inscribed in the subjectivity of youth whose life period is characterized by the need for emotional affirmation with generational peers for their identity constitution. The testimonies obtained within the framework of a qualitative study carried out in two peripheral urban schools in the Province of Buenos Aires (Argentina) reveal two strategies against this form of contempt: a) taking refuge in silence; b) restore social value in other spaces of sociability.
