This work presents some partial results of the ongoing research project about heritage education in Oriximiná/PA, in which experiences of community service and ethnographical research carried out in several local communities are combined. Its aim is to contribute to the training of teachers from the public school system as researchers within the communities where they work. In this way, it is expected that the enhanced awareness of local cultural heritage obtained through the research training may enable teachers to contribute to the process of building up, together with the students, interdisciplinary educational practices.
