In searching to conceptualize the notion of fear, the interviewed people from the city of João Pessoa, capital of the state of Paraíba, Brazil, have pointed out the concept from the experiences with the social environment where they are situated, and have divided the notion of fear in three main categories: Lack of Faith, Lack of Reliability and Distrust to Failure and the Lack of Personal or Familiar Security. This article analyzes the three categories presented for the definition of fear by the inhabitants of the city.
