LACLAU, SEXUALITIES AND THE BODIES: ANALYSIS OF BEAR SUBJECTIFICATIONS

This article brings the debate of bodies to analyze processes of subjectification of gay men called bears. Initially it's outlined a brief conceptual review of analytics of power that contribute to studies of embodiments, especially by Laclau and Mouffe (1987), Judith Butler (2010)Butler, J. (2010). Problemas de gênero: feminismo e subversão da identidade. Rio de Janeiro: Civilização Brasileira. and Michel Foucault (1996)Foucault, M. (1996). A ordem do discurso. São Paulo: Loyola.. The article is based on a qualitative research and the data were collected through semi-structured individual interviews with 19 participants. The data were analyzed considering the poststructuralist perspective of discourse studies given the Laclaudian and Foucauldian approaches. The research concludes that the bear discourse overdetermines dispersed practices in a field of affectualities by constructing a "masculine" body scheme. This scheme is a nodal point and therefore is the first to be enacted on subjectification processes. However, these processes are not fully realized, neither eliminates particularities that often parody the behavioral demands.
