SUSTAINABILITY AND BIOPOLITICS: A PROBLEM FOR THE CONTEMPORARY TIMES

Abstract

The discussion of sustainability has gained visibility in the second half of the 20th century, when several international conferences were held. Assuming a policy setting, the relationship between man and nature has captured the attention of governments that, in some measure, envisioned the risks that the capitalist development brings to the planet. However, the agreements entered into international discussions still keep discrete results considering the seriousness set. It is clear that the State's interest is focused on the social control of the population, thus undertaking one of the pillars of the neoliberal model that values for control of individuals in the name of security. In the course of this study, we will seek to show that this concern, widespread among nations and governments keep a biopolitical dimension of regulation and control that is not always articulated the effective preservation of natural wealth our planet, in view of the restrictions on the production of wealth that it would necessarily put underway.
