ABSTRACT
This article aimed to present some of the effects produced in experiences, representations, affections and relationships of women in situations of domestic violence, from their participation in a follow-up group. Firstly, we presented theoretical discussions about domestic violence against women, group work and the construction of meanings. The intervention/participation process included qualitative field research. The protagonists were 19 women who attended, in the first half of 2017, a follow-up group for women in situation of domestic violence in a seat inside the Public Defender’s Office of the State of Paraná. As for theoretical-methodological assumptions, we were guided by the contributions of the social constructionist movement. Through the focus groups, they have narrated the construction of new meanings for the varied elements that make up their existences. In this process of change, the group work has been instrumental in strengthening, resiliency and the creation of coping strategies for domestic violence.
