TIME AND SPACE IN ETHNOGRAPHIC RESEARCH THAT INCLUDES CHILDREN

Abstract

In this article, starting from two situations taken from the ethnographic field work that I have been doing in Catingueira - PB, over the years 2012-2016, I will reflect on the relation time / space in the investigation action with the children. I understand that the stage in which children are found, while living their childhood, despite being protected by the other generational groups, experience concrete existential displacements. The transformations of time and space can be perceived in people's ideas, in the new meanings of environments, in social restructuring, in the bodies of the subjects and in the later production of the researcher. I will argue, finally, that in ethnographic research spaces and time are not static, they change, forcing subjects to move from their habitual physical and mental 'territories', bringing implications to the researcher himself.
