ABSTRACT
In this theoretical work the authors problematize the production of today's adolescent subjects. Taking the impact of media on people as a guideline, they elaborate possible interpretations on the effects of such discourse in adolescent lifestyles. In this discussion they emphasize the contributions of critical thinking of Guy Debord, as well as the socio-cultural and psychoanalytic analysis of Jurandir Freire Costa, from which the concept of spectacle society gains relevance over the arguments presented. In conclusion the authors point to a possible effectiveness of this conceptualization for understanding adolescent lifestyles and their processes of self construction. Therefore the present analysis configures itself as a critical interpretation of media influence on adolescents today.
