"Free Brazilians from moral captivity": national identity, sex education and family in Brazil during the 1930s

On Brazilianess files, sexual hyperesthesia appears as one of their deepest brands, discursive basis on which will lay the sex education project, produced in the intersection of medical knowledge with education and psychology. This study aims to analyze the campaign for sex education led by the Círculo Brasileiro de Educação Sexual, in the 1930s. Foucault-inspired, its documentary corpus was the Boletim de Educação Sexual, published between 1933 and 1939, as well as theses and books written during this period. The campaign of sex education, fostering a sexual science in Brazil, aimed at allowing a sexual prophylaxis that mitigated the production of crime, sexual perversions and nervous diseases, as well as family maladjustments.
