INTERVENTION WITH YOUNG PEOPLE ON THE STREETS: QUESTIONING CARE AND CONTROL

Abstract

This article is the result of research on the subject of care in a device of social welfare policy for children and adolescents living on the streets in the city of Porto Alegre, in 2007. From the practical experience of a psychologist in the device called "Acão Rua", we analyze how the intervention relates with the existing territory targeted for intervention. This paper distinguishes between different modes of relation characterized by care practices and control practices. These ways of relation are discussed based on the analysis of scenes from the field diary of an author. What we are calling modes of relation is a crucial dimension to production of public policy.
