Conjugal relationship, behavior problems andpreschoolers social skills

Variables related to conjugal relationship and parents-children relationship can affect children's behavior. The aim of this work is to compare the reports of fathers and mothers of preschool children, with or without behavioral problems, regarding to conjugal relationship. Participants were forty-eight couples that were distributed into two groups: biological parents of children with behavior problems and biological parents of socially skillful children, according to the teachers' evaluation. The parents were individually interviewed about affection expression, conjugal communication, spouse's positive and negative characteristics, and conjugal relationship quality. It was found some results in the expected direction. Parents with a socially skillful child were more positive in relation to the conjugal communication and spouse characteristics. There were no differences in the affection expression.
