Evidence of Efficacy of Retirement Education Programs: An Experimental Study

Abstract

This study evaluates the efficacy of three retirement education programs, long, brief and testimony, using an experimental design with a control group and six month follow-up in a sample of public servants (N = 30). We used the scale for behavioral change in retirement planning, subjective well-being and future time perspective and satisfaction questionnaire. Data were analyzed by descriptive, nonparametric statistics and content analysis. There were no statistically significant differences between groups. Effect size analyzes revealed positive effects of long intervention in future time perspective and life satisfaction, as well as positive effects of the control group on occupational-social investment, autonomy and well-being. The evidences are inconclusive about interventions efficacy.
