Laparoscopic vasectomy in nail-monkeys (Cebus nigritus)

This study aimed to evaluate the technique of laparoscopic vasectomy in nail-monkeys (Cebus nigritus). Therefore eight animals were subjected to inhalation anesthesia. Three portals (two 5mm and one 10mm) were positioned in the ventral abdominal wall. Vasa deferentia were isolated and cauterized by bipolar energy, and afterword sectioned near the internal inguinal ring. The procedures lasted 30.67+8.78 minutes without complications. It could be conclude that the proposed technique is suitable for this animal species.
