Productive restructuring, unions and the flexibilization of labor relations in Brazil

The Brazilian experience of competitive adaptation to the global market impeled the productive restructuring in the companies. It also brought important political and institutional changes, especially in relation to the job market. This text analyzes the reflex of those changes in the system of work relationships. It takes as focus some political and conjuntural facts that configured the position of employees and employers in the moment that precedes to those changes and in the current context. Based on that wider reference I argue that Brasilian history of work relationships was built under conditions of strong managerial authoritarianism, and over the weakness of the syndical organizations. For this reason, the flexibilization of the national rules of works (CLT) puts in risk the warranty of rights. It invests in the possibility of its lowering.
