Institutional analysis of organizational changes in a cooperative system of solidary credit in Minas Gerais

The aim of this paper is to analyze how the search for legitimacy and normative conformity configure institutional isomorphic processes and how this interfered with organizational practices and conditioned the trajectory of system of credit unions Ecosol in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The research was descriptive and qualitative approach, using in-depth interviews, non-participant observation and documentary research and data collection instruments applied in 2010. The analysis allows to identify the coercive isomorphism induced by the norms of the Central Bank and mimicry caused by the uncertainties of the cooperative system and the search for legitimacy through imitation of another organization represented as more legitimate. The demand for normative conformity and legitimacy imprinted in the process of organizational change an institutional aspect and not just technical.
