Nutrient content in cedro (Cedrela fissilis Vell.) seedlings submitted to increasing levels of nickel in nutrient solution

The effect of nickel application on the nutrient content in the root, stem and leaves of cedro (Cedrela fissilis Vell.) seedlings was studied in an experiment conducted in a greenhouse of the Soil Science Department of the Federal University of Lavras. The seedlings had been cultivated in a Clark nutrient solution and submitted to increasing levels of Ni: 0, 42, 84, 169 and 252 mumol. The experiment was arranged in a randomized block design. After 60 days of exposure to the heavy metal, evaluations of macro and micronutrient content in the root, stem and leaf dry matter were carried out. The results showed that nickel application increased the P content, practically did not affect the K and S contents but reduced the Ca and Mg contents. The Cu, Fe and Mn contents had an overall reduction, while Zn content was little affected. The nickel content in the root, stem and leaf dry matter increased with the increase of nickel doses.
