The floristic inventory of two municipalities located in the state of Rio de Janeiro has revealed seven new species of bryophytes for Brazil: Bryum renauldii Ren. & Card., Harpalejeunea uncinata Steph., Kymatocalyx dominicensis (Spruce) Váña, Lejeunea minutiloba Evans, Macrocoma frigidum (C. Müll.) Vitt, Pireella cymbifolia (Sull.) Card. and Tortula rhizophylla (Sak.) Iwats. & Saito and a new species from the state of Rio de Janeiro, Lejeunea caespitosa Lindenb. ex G. L. & Nees, thus once more modifying the worldwide range of species of bryophytes.
