The role of laparoscopy in colorectal diseases is still expanding. The method is accurate and safe in a variety of diseases. However, the applicability of this procedure for the treatment of chagasic megacolon still raises doubts concerning the best operative technique and its outcomes. This uncertainties come both from the lack of studies about this subject and the absence of a uniformly performed surgical technique even during conventional surgery. In this paper we present our surgical tactic and a review of the current literature about the laparoscopic management of chagasic megacolon.
