ABSTRACT
This article aimed to analyze and problematize the situation of the sociocultural and pedagogical subareas within the Brazilian Physical Education Post Graduation. This is a qualitative research which used documentary sources and five semi-structured interviews conducted with researchers from these two subareas representative of different post graduation programs as methodology. It was concluded that the evaluation criteria used in area 21 do not satisfactorily address the epistemic singularities of these two subareas. Among the interviewees, there was a dissatisfaction with the modus operandi used by the area to stratify programs, accredit and / or discredit researchers, classifying them as productive or unproductive.
