Understandings of body in physical education: content analysis of magazines EPS (France) and RBCE (Brazil)

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the understanding of the body and the way that understanding is transformed in the field of Physical Education in France and Brazil, in the period of 1980 - 1990. We analyzed 76 articles of the Revue Education Physique et Sportive and 74 articles of the Revista Brasileira de Ciências do Esporte, using the technique of content analysis. Interested in weaving approaches and divergences between the two countries during this period. The content analysis of both Journals provides horizons of understanding and the research about the knowledge of the body, the scientific and research designs in Physical Education. In the period examined in both journals, the predominant approach of biomedical sciences associated with high performance sport, although we find the critical elements of this vision.
