Open-access The inclusion of Physical Education teachers and professionals in master’s programs in Collective Health and Public Health in Brazil in the 2010s

ABSTRACT

The objective was to verify the inclusion of Physical Education teachers and professional (PPEF) in academic master’s programs in Collective Health and Public Health in Brazil from 2010 to 2019. Based on searches of program websites and resumes of graduates, information on 5.629 graduates was analyzed of whom 149 (2,6%) were PPEFs in 27 of the 35 programs analyzed. Of the 147 professions identified, Physical Education was the ninth most prevalent. The analysis by five-year periods (2010-2014 and 2015-2019), revealed a 36% increase in graduates with initial training in PE training, with the greatest increase in the South region (76,1%), and the greatest decrease in the Southeast (20%). Overall, PPEF participation increased, with varations between regions and institutions.
