Between the Physical Education and the modern sports: circulation of knowledges about hygienic practices on Escola Superior de Agricultura de Viçosa (1940-1948)

ABSTRACT

This paper aimed to analyze the circulation of knowledges about hygienist practices concerning the body practices, contained it in a student journal of the Escola Superior de Agricultura de Viçosa, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil (1940-1948). It takes as reference the historiographical operation, by Certeau (2015), to produce documents. Were observed that the hygienist knowledges had a double function: put on circulation the knowledges about body cares that corresponded it with the hygienist discusses; and encourage the use of body practices as a hygienic tool to care of the body. Was concluded that the knowledges about the practices aimed circulating a modern hygienic formation through the physical education and the sports, allowing a national progress.
