Abstract:
This paper seeks to evaluate the academic performance of quota students at the Universidade Federal de Viçosa -CampusRio Paranaiba (UFV-CRP) in comparison to non-quota students. The paper aims to examine two arguments used by sectors against quota policies, i.e.: 1) the social and educational capital of quota group is inferior to the non-quota group and; 2) due to these differences, the academic performance of quota students would be inferior to the non-quota students. We note that there are no statistically significant differences sustaining both arguments and that the quota policy promotes social inclusion and social mobility of minority groups.
