A field trial was carried out to evaluate the effects of nitrogen and potassium top dressing on upland rice. The treatments consisted of a 5 x 3 factorial design (five nitrogen doses - 0, 25, 50, 75, and 100 kg ha- and three potassium doses - 0, 25 and 50 kg ha-1), arranged in a complete randomized design, with three replicates. The results showed that several yield characteristics were positively influenced by nitrogen and potassium fertilization. The best combination of both fertilizers for obtaining the highest protein and grain production is around 65 kg ha-1 of N and 20 kg ha-1 of K2O.
