Franco-Brazilian articulations in the formation of the sociology of work in Brazil (1950 – 1960)

Abstract:

This article aims to analyze the Brazilian sociology of work creation and development and its interlocutions with the French sociology of work throughout the 1950s and 1960s. For this, the paper highlights the importance of political and academic relationships established between authors through an incipient international scholarly community. The institutions involved in constructing this new domain of social sciences were prioritized, in addition to an analysis of the works produced in this scientific field. This text is based on systematic research in archives in France and Brazil and interviews with its protagonists. The conclusion indicates a project for the construction and institutionalization of the sociology of work in Brazil, in conjunction with authors and research centers from significant countries and Latin America, producing a common research agenda and reflections.
