ABSTRACT
This work presents some recommendations about the use of timber in rural constructions with emphasis on bridges and roof structures. Log stringer beams, simple and composed, are presented for use in timber bridges. An introduction of prestressed timber bridges is also presented. Roof timber structures using gang nail connectors constructive system are explained due to natural tendency of civil contruction, already in eatablished industrial countries. Details about wood preservation with reference to our new Brazilian Code are also presented.
