Growth of sunflower fertilized with liquid waste from processing of cassava

The objective of this study was to evaluate the growth of sunflower, Helio 250, fertilized with liquid waste of cassava processing. An experiment was conducted at the Agronomic Institute of Pernambuco, located in Vitoria de Santo Antão, PE. The randomized complete block design was used with six treatments and four replications. The treatments were arranged in a split plot, being the plots represented by doses (0, 8.5, 17, 34, 68 and 136 m3 ha-1) and subplots by sampling dates -15, 30, 45, 60, 75 and 90 days after sowing. Plant height, number of leaves, fresh and dry weight of leaves and stem, and chapter were determined. The dose of 136 m3 ha-1 cassava enhanced growth of plants, and the maximum height of plants, number of leaves, fresh and dry mass of leaves were obtained at 60 days after sowing, while the maximum values of fresh and dry mass of stem and of chapter were observed at 73 and 86 days after sowing, respectively, and therefore recommended the use of liquid waste of cassava processing as a source of nutrients for sunflower cultivation.
