Response function of the guava to water depth and nitrogen fertilization

The objective of this research was to study the effects of irrigation and nitrogen fertilization applied by fertigation on the productivity of the guava, Paluma variety, four years old, under microirigation system with 6 x 5 m spacing. The experiment was carried out at the Experimental Station of Veludo, in Itaporanga city, PB. The experimental design was randomized blocks, in a 4 x 4 factorial scheme with four repetitions, whose factors were: four irrigation levels, L1 = 0.60 Lb, L2 = 1.00 Lb, L3 = 1.40 Lb and L4 = 1.80 Lb and four levels of nitrogen, N1 = 50, N2 = 100, N3 = 150 and N4 = 200 kg ha-1. The irrigation was accomplished daily during the crop cycle (198 days) after frutification pruning. The fertigation was performed three days a week during the crop cycle (80 applications). The effects of the treatments were evaluated by production, number of fruits per plant, total weight of fruits per plant and mean weight of fruits. The maximum economic productivity for the two factors (L x N) was 35.594 kg ha-1 with the application of L = 1.721 mm and N = 167 kg ha-1, with total income of R$ 13,154.68 ha-1, considering the water cost of R$ 0.65 mm ha-1 and nitrogen cost of R$ 1.15 kg-1 and sale price Py = R$ 0.50 kg.
