The prospects of the social participation in education in Mexico: the viewpoint of experts

The paper presents the results of a prospective instrument applied to 13 experts as part of a wider investigation on Social Participation in Education (PSE) in Mexico. The instrument was aimed, basically answer the following questions: 1) what are the main problems identified by experts in the PSE in general, 2) what events are determined from the problems and feasible for it to happen a change in PSE policy and, finally, 3) what scenarios, inertial and ideals arise from the prospects for the PSE. In the article the state of knowledge produced in the field is analyzed and placed in the context of consensual power, understood as the participation and consensus of citizens, namely the democratic principle. The findings highlight that the ideal scenarios are based on events that are outside the logic of state and government practices, the conditions of possibility of changes in social participation in education are the efforts from society organizations civilian can be given.
