Critical analysis of the School Principals' training policies in Chile: 1980-2010

To account for public policies on selection, training and professional development of Directors in the last three decades in Chile, is the main objective of this work. Therefore, we examine the managerial competencies associated with exercise and as processes are evident in the statements. It is believed that changes in the direction of management, and reason of the directors, have been essentially driven by external demands to the school, taking very different ways of coping being a public or private institution, which affects the recruitment, selection, and advanced initial training, job placement and career policy. From this he considered review the changes in the orientation of management in educational institutions in the last thirty years, with new insights and possible consequences incorporated, to conclude with the identification of critical nodes that need to be solved to define public policy for the country in these matters.
