ABSTRACT
Having the set of articles published by Revista Brasileira de Educação (RBE) in 1997 for the portfolio “Youth and contemporaneity” as starting point, this paper makes a reflection on the many paths taken by research on the youth in Brazil over the last 20 years. Based on RBE’s database, a preliminary analysis was conducted on 32 articles addressing this matter and edited for the aforementioned portfolio. This corpus constitutes a rallying point for reflections that could project multiple perspectives on studies about the youth in the field of Education. Convergences and gaps are to be examined as part of a research line still being formed. Openness to new challenges and investigation perspectives are questioned, taking the fusion of the collective conflict with mobilizations around recent resistance movements by high schoolers as an example.
