Open-access THE PROFILE OF THE SCHOOL SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (PAE): AN ANALYSIS OF THE PUBLIC NOTICES OF THE 14 MUNICIPALITIES OF AMVE (SC)

ABSTRACT

The School Support Professional (SSP), according to the Brazilian Law for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities of 2015, is responsible for assisting students with disabilities in activities such as eating, hygiene and mobility. However, the guidelines for the SSP’s role vary across national, state and municipal levels. This study analyzes the SSP profile in the most recent public notices (2019-2022) from the 14 municipalities of the Association of Municipalities of the European Valley (AMVE, acronym in Portuguese) in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. The objectives include identifying the notices, organizing the data regarding job titles, minimum requirements, working hours and remuneration and pointing out the similarities and differences in the descriptions of the SSP. The research method used was a qualitative documentary analysis of the public notices, focusing on identifying and organizing job-related information. The results reveal a lack of standardization in the descriptions, hindering the creation of a unified profile and the national operationalization of the profession. The differences found in the public notices, such as job titles, requirements and salaries, reflect a fragmentation that contributes to the precarization of the SSP role and hinders the implementation of an effective inclusive policy at the national level.
