Analysis of the Theses and Dissertations from PPGEES/UFSCar Regarding the Interface Between Physical Education and Special Education

The overlap between the fields of Physical Education and Special Education allows multiplying possibilities of intervention and investigation related to body culture, social inclusion and inclusive education of people with special needs. The intersection of production of knowledge between Physical Education and Special Education has been demonstrated, especially in research conducted in Graduate Programs. In order to map academic production involving these two areas, this study aimed to examine student production (theses and dissertations) of the Graduate Program in Special Education (PPGEEs) at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), considering the interface between Physical Education and Special Education. The method was a literature review, and the treatment of the data was based on content analysis. The results indicated that the PPGEEs/UFSCar has contributed significantly in the pursuit of new knowledge regarding the interface between Physical Education and Special Education, mainly related to concepts, procedures, strategies, adaptations and new reflections on theory and practice related to body culture, social inclusion and education of children, youth, adults and seniors with special needs.
