Open-access Star rotation and its effect on spectral lines

    This note paper deals with the determination of the Sun's rotation rate as well as for other stars. After a short historical introduction, it is described the Fourier Transform method applied to spectroscopic profiles, and also a discussion on the effects of the stellar rotation in the shape of spectral line profiles is presented.
