A theoretical model for calculating the proton radius

Measuring the proton radius provides information about its internal structure, therefore measurements using different methods have been carried out throughout history. However, in 2010 a new measure that differs 4% from the previous ones generated the so-called proton radius puzzle, refering to the fact that no apparent explanation has been found to explain why such measures differ. Observing that the current proton radius calculations are based on experimental data, this article aims to put forward a simplified theoretical model, being based on the potential energies of the perturbative QCD. Although approximate, the model amounts to 0.817 fm, which differs by 2,9% from the current value considered by CODATA. Therefore, this work seeks to contribute with a didactical formulation to the proton radius problem and the understanding of the fundamental interactions of matter.
