Abstract
In this work we present the problem of obtaining and integrating numerically the hydrostatic equilibrium equations for a star with a polytropic equation of state, which is the well known Eddington model. In particular, we provide the parameters to obtain the corresponding model for the Sun. The treatment is geared towards first or second year physics students. An implementation of the integration algorithm is included.
