One of the less known sides of Ludwig Boltzmann was that of his passion for air travel. In a talk in which he even had a model airplane fly over the audience, Boltzmann vehemently defended further investments in the area. In this paper I discuss his involvement with the subject, how his talk was received as well as his correspondence with two flight pioneers, Otto Lilienthal e Wilhelm Kress.
