How Augusto Severo eliminated the pitch

For 50 years -from 1852 to 1902 -, the dirigibles remained sensible to pitch, a constant oscillation between the stern and the bow, damaging to the balance and displacement of the airships. To solve the problem, the Brazilian inventor and politician Augusto Severo de Albuquerque Maranhão [1864-1902] invented the first semirigid airships of the world: the Bartholomeu de Gusmão (1894) and the Pax (1902).
