Pedagogical approach and diversity of medical school scenarios: projects selected by PROMED

The aim of this study was to analyze the main pedagogical proposals and range of scenarios in the teaching process in the schools selected by the Program to Promote Curricular Changes in Medical Schools (PROMED), established in 2002 by the Brazilian Ministries of Health and Education. A document search was conducted, using a script based on the Program's term of reference for reading the proposals. All of the selected schools were already undergoing a process of curricular reform at the time of the PROMED Call for Proposals. Although they were all seeking to achieve the objectives laid out by the Program, the selected proposals identified different paths for this purpose. Knowledge of the proposals and the way they interrelate is of capital importance for educators in the health field involved in curricular changes in their institutions, as well as for health system administrators that have raised their demands in keeping with the population's health needs
