GROWTH OF SEEDLING DWARF-PRECOCIOUS CASHEW INFLUENCED BY ORGANIC AND MINERAL FERTILIZATIONS

A study was conducted at the experimental area of the Irrigation and Draining Department of the Federal University of Ceará, located in Fortaleza, Brazil, in order to evaluate the interactive effects of both organic and mineral fertilizations upon the vegetative growth of dwarf-precocious cashew seedlings grown from April to June 1995. The soil used in the study was an acid red-yellow podzolic, medium texture; the 0-30cm layer soil samples were collected from the coastal region of the Ceará State, Brazil. The seeds utilized in the study came from a dwarf-precocious cashew-tree CCP 76 genotype. The treatments consisted of the application of four levels of organic matter (0, 100, 200 and 300cm³ of coprolite/2,5Kg soil) and four levels of the mineral mixture (0; 1,92; 3,34; and 6,18g/2,5Kg soil), containing urea, triple superphosphate, KCl, gypsum, lime, and frits of the MIB-3 type. The experimental design was entirely randomized blocks, with 16 treatments (four rates of both mineral and organic fertilizers) and 4 replicates using the factorial 4² model. Measurements were obtained 75 days after plant germination. The results showed that the addition of mineral and organic fertilizers on dwarf-precocious cashew seedlings influence the height, the weight of dry matter of the aerial part and number of leaves the seedlings.
