Persimmon 'Costata' harvest advancement after dormancy breakdown by hydrogen cyanamide and mineral oil application

The possibilities of persimmon 'costata' harvesting in advance and obtain better prices in the market through artificial dormancy breakdown were studied in Araponga District, Minas Gerais. Hydrogen cyanamide in doses of 2,4; 7,3; 12,2 mLL-1, compound with 8,0 mLL-1 of mineral oil, was applied on 06/09, 06/30, 07/21 and 08/11/1999, period which the buds were dormants. When compared with control plants, the application of 7,3 a 12,2 mLL-1 of hydrogen cyanamide and 8,0 mLL-1 of mineral oil, from 06/09 to 06/16, advanced the budding , the flowering and the harvest, at 12, 10 and 10 weeks respectively. Then the harvest could be done in December. The fruit set was greater with the increase of concentration and application realized between 07/07 and 08/11, the largest fruit mass was obtained with application of 0,1 to 2,9 mLL-1 in the period from 07/26 to 08/11, it increased the soluble solid content, the titritable acidity decreased and the pulp firmness was not influenced.
